2018 Dutch Indoor Championships

The 13-year old Micky Schelstraete won the 2018 Dutch Indoor FEI Pony Championships in Ermelo, The Netherlands, on Saturday 17 March 2018. The young Dutch pony team member won her first FEI Level indoor title in her budding career.

Schelstraete and Rose van der Lof's 16-year old German Riding Pony Elin's Noncisdador (by Nostradamus x LP Nexen) were in charge of both rounds of the Championship. They won the first test with a good point advantage (72.14%) and never let go of that lead position in the second round (77.542%).

"I rode a bit careful in the first test, but the second test went much better and I was very happy with how it went," said Schelstraete. "I hope to ride well internationally this year and to score well, and then to ride at the European Championships. That would be cool." Micky is thrilled with how her schoolmaster continues to deliver. "He's very handsome and always does his best. He never lets you down. I have learnt so much from him. He could do everything and taught me that. It is really worth a lot for my other ponies."

The silver medal went to Evi van Rooij aboard the 10-year old NRPS bred King Stayerhof's Jango (Orchid's Kosmo x Jacobspeel's Rocky) who besides the winner was able to score over seventy in both rounds. The pair got 70.90£ and 76.375% for a second overall place.

Sanne van der Pols, who is doing double duty as a pony and children's rider, finished with bronze aboard the 10-year old Dutch bred Orchid's Syria (by Kanshebber x Watershof Pretendent). She earned 69.57% and 75.458%.
