The black stallion was initially focued on sport. Under Falk Stankus he was first competed as a 5-year old in an M-level test at the local show in Eutin. Two years later he competed in the developing Prix St Georges horse classes and stayed at small tour level until 2010. He finished 12th in the 2009 Nurnberger Burgpokal Finals. In April 2011 he moved to Grand Prix level. The stallion was shown until 2015 and regularly switched between small and big tour classes.

Haakon did his last show in October 2015 under Olaf Müller. He never competed internationally.

In 2014 was he licensed for breeding with the Oldenburg society in Vechta on the merits of his achievements in sport. Haakon was standing at stud at Gestut Birkhof.

"We were so happy to have the blood of Heraldik xx back at Birkhof," said stallion owner Casper. "We are very disappointed that it's not meant to be. We regret that we can't even offer him to breeders via frozen semen."
