British Olympic team silver medal winning rider Spencer Wilton has received the ride on a new hope for the future, Santa Maria. His clients Alex and Marcia Mouradain acquired the 6-year old bay mare at Hof Kasselmann in Hagen.

Santa Maria is a Westfalian mare by Sandro Hit x Ehrenwort x Matcho AA. She is the full sister to the international Grand Prix horse St. Emilion (Dorothee Schneider, Isabel Bache).

The bright bay mare sold at the 2016 PSI Auction for 300,000 euro. Owned by Georg Dobelman, she qualified for the 2017 Bundeschampionate under Nicole Wego and finished sixth in the 5-year old dressage horse finals in Warendorf.

The Mouradain couple has now acquired Santa Maria in partnership with Hof Kasselmann. They have handed the ride on the future star to their trainer Spencer Wilton.

"Alex and Marcia’s daughter Jade trains with me and one day Alex said that they would like to buy me a horse," Spencer told Eurodressage. "Spending someone else’s money is a big responsibility, not to be taken lightly so I was keen to find a mare with good pedigree so that there is a breeding potential as well as the main priority of being a top competition horse. For me she looks like she has both those qualities."

Santa Maria arrived at Spencer's yard in the U.K. this week and the pair is getting acquainted with each other. Wilton has no immediate competition plans and has set Grand Prix as target.

"The plan is to get to know her and then do some light competing and maybe some young horse classes," he explained, "but this is a long term project so I’m not in a big rush. I really love her already and can’t wait to start the journey."
