2013 CDI Orange

The 2013 CDI Dressage with Altitude festival in Orange, Australia, has successfully wrapped up for another year with the city of Orange turning on fine weather for the four days of competition. Australian routinier Heath Ryan had a clear field to steer his experienced black stallion Regardez Moi (by Rubinstein) to victory in the absence of several of Australia's biggest Grand Prix pairs.

This year there were no interruptions from the weather and the event ran to schedule. With some prominent Grand Prix combinations, Rozzie Ryan and GV Bullwinkle, Tor Van Den Berge and Fishermans Friend, and David Shoobridge and 007, withdrawing before the start of competition the class was still of very high standard with Heath Ryan and the 16-year old Regardez Moi taking out the Grand Prix Freestyle CDI 3* with a 72.325%.

One of the standout performances of the night came from a ‘new comer’ to the big tour, Mark Arthur and the 15-year old Australian bred gelding Kooinda Saint (by Salute out of Funny Weather xx), producing a 68.40% to finish just behind Sheridyn Ashwood on the 16-year old Dutch bred stallion Prestige (by Silvano N x Goodtimes) with 68.90%. Kerry Mack and her 16-year old Dutch warmblood stallion Mayfiled Pzazz (by Jazz) were third with 68.525%.

Earlier in the weekend Brett Parbery dominated the small tour classes on Greg and Julie Farrell’s 9-year old Westfalian stallion Aber Hallo (by Amidou x Rimini x Parcours) and Susan Duddy’s Australian warmblood DP Weltmieser (by Weltmeyer x Catherston Dazzler).

Heath Ryan took out both the CDN Grand Prix on Utopia Cardinal (by Regardez Moi x Lanthan) and the CDI 3* Grand Prix with Regardez Moi.
