Australian Dressage News

The Australian Youth Elite Squad for Dressage as well as the Australian Youth Development Squad have been selected from an increasingly talented pool of young riders. Youth Elite Squads are selected annually for dressage, eventing and jumping.

All National Youth Squad athletes are required to sign Athlete Agreements and are expected to attend the two training camps per year as well as National Pathways clinics as delivered in their State.

The National Youth Development Squad is a multi-discipline, State-based Squad. Like the National Futures Squad, this Squad is managed by the National HP Program, but activities are State-based through the National Pathways Program.
Up to four riders per discipline are named in each State on this Squad.

The Development Squad focuses primarily on the education of ‘the rider as an athlete’. This Squad is identified through consultation with the National and State Selectors for each discipline (State Selectors only for Dressage) and also via the Talent ID Days.

The Australian Dressage Youth Elite Squad includes:

  • Elliot Patterson
  • Megan Bryant
  • Courtney Barbera
  • Shannon McKimmie
  • Stephanie Spencer
