Trakehner Breeding News

The highlight of the Trakehner breeding year takes place from October 20th – 23rd in North Germany’s Neumünster: the 49th Trakehner Stallion Market, with the approvals for young Trakehner stallions and the auction of mares, foals, riding horses and stallions.

And the selection of stallions promises exceptionally high quality this year.

Good Year in Neumünster

60 young stallions foaled in 2009 were selected this summer for the approvals in Neumünster’s Holstenhalle. Lars Gehrmann, the breed manager: “From the spectrum offered we are awaiting a very good impression. There are quite a few show jumping accented stallions and also two offspring from Gribaldi”. His son Totilas has helped the dressage sport reach all new heights of recognition and respect. There are also three half-blooded stallions which have been allowed to start in the approvals.

The Champion Trakehner Stallion 2007, Grand Passion, will have four of his offspring in the approvals, two sons of the successful show jumper Hirtentanz and two offspring of the dressage stallion Imperio are also included in the approval lot. And Songline, the Federal Champion of the three day eventing horses 2006, is represented by one of his sons.

Auction lot with absolutely the best quality

The auction lot of riding horses, mares and foals has raised great expectations. A total of 15 Trakehner mares, 25 quality foals and 17 riding horses have been approved for the auction in Neumünster. Successful sport horses such as Songline, King Arthur, Le Rouge, Hofrat and Imperio stand in the pedigrees of the riding horses. The mare collection includes seven two year old mares with above average quality and successful sport horse sires are literally top here as well. The auction lot is presented daily during the Trakehner Stallion Market in Neumünster and trials are available throughout this period of time as well.

The auction of the stallions, mares, foals and riding horses produced very good results in 2010 raising 264,000 Euros for 10 riding horses, 151,200 Euros for 22 foals, 114,500 Euros for 9 mares, 1,186,000 Euros for 12 approved stallions as well as 231,700 Euros for 19 unapproved stallions.

In 2011 it will be the 16 year old stallion Münchhausen.
