Grand Prix dressage rider Marlies van Baalen has been submitted to the Dutch A-team following her victory at the national competition in Wanroij, The Netherlands.

Aboard the KWPN licensed stallion Idocus, Marlies scored 71.85% and earned herself a place in the Dutch A-team.

Dutch chef d'Equipe Bert Rutten has made several new changes concerning the Dutch selection process for the 2004 Olympic Games. One change is that all A-team members need to score an average of 70% in the Grand Prix.

In Wanroij, Marlies exceeded this average and here thereby become the youngest member of the Dutch A-team. Other team members are Anky van Grunsven, Antoinette Falandt, Edward Gal, Ellen Bontje and Arjen Teeuwissen.

Marlies' steady Grand Prix horse is Idocus (Equador x Zonneglans) owned by American Christine McCarthy.
