The experienced Dutch pony rider Febe van Zwambagt and her equine partner of three years, Dr. Watson, won the first leg of the 2012-2013 KNHS FEI Pony Cup show circuit. The kick-off competition of the circuit was held at equestrian centre De Kroo on Saturday 29 December 2012 and featured a less jam-packed field of riders than usual. Twenty-four competitors rallyed at this event in preparation of the 2013 show season.
The 4-year old Davina, the 5-year old Charon and the 6-year old Be Special became the winners of the 2012 KNHS Subli Young Horse Championships held at the KNHS Equestrian Centre in Ermelo, The Netherlands, on Friday 28 December 2012. The Subli Championships can be considered the official Dutch Young Horse Championships open to all breeds, whereas the Pavo Cup finals are restricted to KWPN registered horses.
Dutch world number one Grand Prix rider Adelinde Cornelissen set her seal on the 2012 CDI Mechelen Kur to Music victory on Friday afternoon 28 December 2012. Aboard her 15-year old Dutch warmblood gelding Parzival (by Jazz x Ulft) Cornelissen has abdicated Anky van Grunsven as Queen of the Kur. So far unbeatable in the freestyle to music, except by Charlotte Dujardin, Cornelissen wields the axe of power when it comes to riding to music.
The 2012 CDI Mechelen kicked off with a small Prix St Georges class early Thursday morning 27 December 2012. German Helen Langehanenberg and the 8-year old Oldenburg stallion Rohjuwel (by Rohdiamant) surfaced at the top with a 72.237% score. Belgian Larissa Pauluis finished in second place with 70.842%.
In a first battle of the titans since the 2012 Olympic Games in August 2012, two of the world's best dressage horses -- Damon Hill and Parzival -- bumped fists facing each other again since London and the pendulum swung in favour of Damon Hill. Helen Langehanenberg and Damon Hill edged out Adelinde Cornelissen on Parzival with a 82.468% Grand Prix score, coming close to her personal best score of 82.766% which she earned in November at the CDI-W Stuttgart.

Banco Sabadell's Madrid Horse Week 2012 is a multidisciplinary equestrian event which has celebrated its first edition in IFEMA on 20 - 23 December 2012. It offered various equestrian competitions and exhibitions for horse loving people of all ages, which there are in Madrid for sure. This fun weekend beat all odds as the economic crisis turned the event into a brave organizers' bet.
