Young Guns in Dressage

It's not only the famous professionals who keep jetting around the globe to compete with their horses at the World Cup Finals in Las Vegas, or Olympic Games at the end of the world: If you become a member of a national Junior or Young Riders team, you're in for a lot of mileage as well. With the European Youngster Classics in Bonn and the European Championships in Nussloch, Germany offered two popular traveling destinations for the best of the Youngsters this year, and one of those young talents was Anne Katrine Elkjaer-Holm from Denmark.

Young Guns in Dressage

For 18-year old Christina Sachinoglou her final junior rider's year is one marked by new ventures and new horizons. Aboard her new horse Rafaello, she has qualified to compete at the 2007 European Junior Riders Championships in Nussloch, Germany, and she will be showing at the CDI-JYR Barzago (ITA) as final show preparation before the highlight of the season, the European Championships. As of next year, Christina will be moving onto Young Riders level and Rafaello will be her partner for the 2008 show season.

Young Guns in Dressage

Greek junior rider Lia Koudouni is aiming for an international break through on the European junior riders' scene at the CDI-JYR in Stadl Paura, Austria, April 5-9 2007. Aboard her steady mount Donnergroll, Koudouni will be competing with three more Greek junior riders team in Austria against Europe's junior riders' elite. Furthermore, she will be premiering her new kur to music, created by Anky van Grunsven's in-house kur composer, Cees Slings.

Hungary is not exactly known as a prominent dressage country, despite its close connections to the Lippizaner stud farm in Lipica, Slovenia. Nevertheless, over the years individual riders from Hungary were able to capture the spotlight. Most famous Hungarian dressage rider so far is Guyla Dallos, who was successful in the World Cup circuit aboard Aktion. Yet now a new young rising star is claiming the limelight: Máté Garai. This is how a dressage career starts in Hungary.
