A black Fidertanz x Rubiloh x Ehrentusch colt, bred by Breeders Group Butkus and presented by Jens Henning, was proclaimed Champion of the 2008 Westfalian Stallion Licensing in Munster-Handorf, Germany, November 26, 2008.
The 2008 Assembly of the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses was held this year in Lyon, France. Jan Pedersen, president of the WBFSH, provided the following report from the event:
Xavier Libbrecht and Hanfried Haring have been proclaimed honorary members of the WBFSH at the 2008 General Assembly in Lyon, France. Libbrecht was one of the visionaries who saw the need for an organisation representing the World’s sport horse studbooks.
The Dutch warmblood stallion Jazz (by Cocktail x Ulft) has for the first time taken the leading position as the most successful sire of dressage horses on the WBFSH Ranking.
The Hanoverian licensed stallion Douceur passed away on Monday 27 October 2008. The 10-year old stallion was bred by Johann Küver from Lahmstedt, Germany and was by Davignon I x Werther x Waldhorn. Douceur was humanely put down following an illness.
The privately owned stallion De Niro is the Hanoverian Stallion of the Year 2008. The Donnerhall x Akzent II-son was bred by Brigitte Pahl, Fockbek, and licensed in Verden in 1995. Since that time, he has been standing at Klosterhof Medingen.
