The 2009 Trakehner licensing champion Kentucky has moved from his owner's yard Gestut Wiesenhof to Gestut Staffelde where he will stand at stud for the 2018 breeding season.

The 10-year old Kentucky is by Donaufels out of SPS Kaiserin (by Lehndorffs x Mahagoni). He is bred by Dirk Müller from Reichshof, Germany.

Presented at the licensing by Herbert Stefan Schümann, Kentucky became the 2009 Trakehner Licensing champion and sold at auction for 250,000 euro to Beate Conle-Hüttner of Gestut Wiesenhof.

In 2010 he did the 30-day stallion performance test in Schlieckau and scored 8.45 with 8.75 for dressage and 7.68 for show jumping. In 2012 he completed the 70-day testing in Marbach with 7.59 points, scoring 7.86 for dressage and 7.29 for show jumping.

Kentucky had no significant show career at all. He was first competed by Johan Svensson in 2010 in the riding horse tests. He did one show with two classes that year. In 2011 he did just one test that year. Under tanja Fischer he showed at A and L-level in 2012 in four events. The CDN Kaarst in August 2012 was the last competition the horse did in his career so far.

The stallion made his mark more in breeding. He has sired two licensed offspring (Niagara, Vapiano) and out of the 42 broodmares registered with the German FN, no less than 20 are state premium. His most successful offspring in competition are the 5-yeaer olds Arosa under Friederike Schulz-Walner and Vapiano under Vera Breidenbach.

Gestut Staffelde recently gelded Tudor (by Iskander), one of their main breeding stallions, so they have now added Kentucky to their collection of 8 sires. "Like this we can offer alternatives to Millennium blood," said the Staffelde press officer.
