Judy Dierks and Diamond Star clinched the Grand Prix Freestyle CDI-W victory at Sydney International Equestrian Centre in Sydney at the 2017 NSW Dressage Championships on Saturday 2 September 2017. Riding Vicki Newham's chestnut gelding Diamond Star, Dierks topped the board with 73.400%.

Dierks came back from a few mistakes in the CDI-W Grand Prix the previous day to claim victory in the Kur by just 0.275% over Brett Parbery with the scores coming in at 73.400% and 73.125% Parbery and DP Weltmieser, who is owned by Susan Duddy on Saturday, finished second.

Another score in excess of 70% was achieved by Rozzie Ryan on board her own Jive Magic gelding, Jarrah R, in third place with 70.425%.

Dierks and Diamond Star were named FEI Big Tour Champions and winner of the Della Robertson Trophy at the end of the night, capping off an extremely successful day for the Dierks family.

"Diamond Star and Judy were all pumped for their turn in the Grand Prix Freestyle CDI-W. Diamond Star did some very fancy footwork around the indoor under the expert guidance of Judy. After a much anticipated wait their score was announced, 73.40% and straight to the top of the leaderboard," team Dierks wrote about their weekend in Sydney.

Earlier, daughter Danielle took out the national Small Tour championship with her stunning San Amour stallion, Solo Feliz, the combination scoring an impressive 75.885% in the CDN Intermediate Freestyle.

"Solo nailed every movement and rode a very powerful test, resulting in a clean sweep for Solo over the week, scoring and amazing total of 75.89% and 1st place! One very respected judge even had Solo on a score of 80.13%! These are the highest scores Daniella has ever achieved on any horse at FEI level," wrote a Team Dierks representative on Facebook.

Danielle had described the stallion as “amazing” after the pair took out the CDN Prix St Georges on Thursday and the Intermediate I on Friday with another score in excess of 70%.
