Glock's Tango to Stay with Minderhoud at Least Until August 2012
Following the news that Hans Peter Minderhoud's number one Grand Prix horse Tango sold to Gaston Glock and that he and his partners Edward Gal and Nicole Werner will be sponsored by Glock for the next 10 year, Tango's previous owner IPS issued a statement as well.
Glock added another Grand Prix mount to his string of horses which are ridden by Marcel Schoenmakers at the Glock Horse Performance Centre in Treffen, Austria. However, Tango's sales contract stipulates that Minderhoud will keep the ride on the chestnut stallion (by Jazz x Contang) at least until after the 2012 Olympic Games.
"For a long time there has been interest in the stallion, which became Dutch Champion with his steady rider Hans Peter Minderhoud," IPS wrote. "An important condition of the sale was that Minderhoud would keep riding the stallion until the Olympic Games.
IPS' statement reveals the possibility that after the Games Tango might move to Austrian and switch riders. Hans Peter Minderhoud also has Whitney van 't Genthof and Donna Silver as 2012 Olympic contenders.
Tango is bred by the late Huub van Helvoirt.
