Guizo Passed Away
Guizo, one of Spain's most successful dressage horses ever, has passed away following severe acute intestinal problems. The bay Lusitano stallion spent the last four days of his life in the equine clinic where he was being treated, but unfortunately the veterinarians were unable to save him and the horse passed away.
Guizo was a 1988 born Lusitano stallion by Zasebande out of Cataria (by Tivoli). Under Juan Antonio Jimenez Cobo, the horse rose to international stardom. The combination won the team bronze medal at the 2002 World Equestrian Games in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, and team silver at the 2003 European Dressage Championships in Hickstead, Great Britain. They competed at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and became Spanish National Dressage Championships in 2005 after a very successful 2005 European Championships in which they placed fifth individually.
Guizo's passing is a great loss for the Spanish dressage world. The 18-year old stallion was owned by Enrique Guerrero.
