Viva Vegas Leads Approval of Older Stallions at 2024 Danish Warmblood Stallion Licensing

Viva Vegas was named champion in the 4-year and older group of stallions that was presented for life-time licensing at the 2024 Danish Warmblood stallion licensing in Herning, Denmark, on Thursday 7 March 2024.

The Danish warmblood society requires all 3-year old, newly licensed colts to perform a stallion test and then re-appear at the licensing a year later to be re-assessed under saddle and approved for life.

The licensing committee this year consists of Vicky Nortvig, Jens Søgård, Karsten Petersen, Rune Willum and Johnny Sørensen.

A group of 18 "older" stallions, aged 4 to 7, was presented in Herning. Seventeen of them passes, while one colt, Kristin Andresen's Bueno SL (by Bonds x Foundation), has been given a breeding licence for two year.

The committee also named a "champion" in this group and that was Helgstrand's Hanoverian bred Viva Vegas (by Viva Gold x Rock Forever) as he won the stallion performance test last autumn.

A special prize is given to the best Danish bred colt in this group - the Aage Ravn Cup - and this was given to Straight Horse Leonardo (by Lord Europe x De Niro), bred by Mogens Pedersen of Straight Horse and owned by Helgstrand Dressage.
