For the first time the KWPN society named a "Broodmare of the Year" at its annual KWPN Stallion Licensing in 's Hertogenbosch.

The mare Ushimanda is the first to be bestowed with the title "KWPN Broodmare of the Year".

Floor Droge: “This week it's not just the stallions that are in the spotlight. The Stallion Licensing is known for the predicate stallions to be honoured. Now the mares are also added. The chosen mare for dressage has distinguished herself by producing offspring that perform excellently in sport. For this we include all descendants. This year the honour goes to Ushimaanda, who is owned by 2017 KWPN Breeder of the Year Leunis van Lieren.”

Ushimanda is a preferent performance keur sports mare by Rubiquil out of Latamanda, an elite preferent performance sports mare by Matador II. Ushimaanda was bred by J. Polderman. This mare competed at ZZ-Licht level. Her son Double Dutch (by Johnson) is KWPN approved as a stallion and started internationally in the Grand Prix with Thamar Zweistra and Rotem Ibrahimzadeh, just like offspring Innuendo (by Negro) under Sergio Garcia Bermejo. Her offspring Ego L (by Negro) and Fila Manda (by Westpoint) have also started in the big tour.
