German Under 25 Grand Prix rider Sophie Reef keeps expanding her string of horses. After purchasing Charming Lady at the 2019 Excellent Dressage Sales auction, she has now bought Genua TC.

This is the second horse of Jeanine Nieuwenhuis that has been purchased by 19-year old Reef.

Genua TC is an 8-year old Dutch warmblood gelding (by Charmeur out of Toulouse (by Jazz)).

Genua TC was part of the Excellent Dressage Sales collection back in 2015 when he was still a stallion. He sold for 170,000 euro to Dutch based Turkish rider Lina Uzunhasan. She however returned the horse to previous owner Tim Coomans shortly after the auction.

In 2017 Jeanine Nieuwenhuis, who is head rider at Tim Coomans' stables, competed the gelding at the World Young Horse Championships in Ermelo and placed 7th in the consolation finals for 6-year olds. In 2018 she rode him at small tour level in The Netherlands and has now been preparing him for an Under 25 Grand Prix start.

"Sometimes you want moments to stay and your story to keep going on but after four successful years with Genua TC our ways part," said Nieuwenhuis in Facebook. "It wasn't planned but sometimes things turn out differently and something comes on your path you know is the right decision. We think Genua has found a super new rider in Sophie Reef."

Reef is trained by Sabine Egbers. This year Sophie has been competing internationally at young riders level with Rue Noblesse and at Under 25 level with Charming Lady.
