2019 FEI Asian Championships in Pattaya (THA)

The Thailand Equestrian Federation will be hosting the first ever FEI Asian Equestrian Games in Pattaya, Thailand, on 30 November - 8 December 2019.  This multi-disciplinary event will cover jumping, dressage and eventing.

Unlike the "Asian Games" held every four years and where all major sports are represented, the FEI Asian Championships are an FEI endorsed event, exclusively for horse sport.

After the allocation of Pattaya to host the 2019 FEI Asian Championships at an FEI board meeting in June 2018, the Asian Equestrian Federation withdrew its involvement in the organisation of these Championships.

However, the Thailand Equestrian Federation and the Organising Committee are fully committed to making the FEI Asian Championships Pattaya 2019 a resounding sporting success as well as a pleasant and fun experience.

FEI President Ingmar De Vos said: "The FEI welcomes the creation of the first ever FEI Continental Championships in Asia. It is a significant milestone for equestrian sport in the region. We have received assurances from the Thailand Equestrian Federation that these important Championships will be organised at the highest level of the sport and look forward to witnessing first hand this major equestrian Event in Pattaya."

The best human and equine athletes in Asia deserve riding surfaces of the highest international standards to ensure top sport and safety at these Championships. To this end, the Organising Committee has been working tirelessly with the world renowned footing expert and the appointed Footing Specialist for Tokyo 2020, Mr. Oliver Hoberg, to build brand new competition and warm-up arenas as well as to upgrade all existing training surfaces.

To facilitate the maximum participation of teams, the THA NF announced that the Organising Committee has chartered a US$1,000,000 flight to bring participating horses based in Europe free of charge into Thailand and back on a first come first served basis. While the details are still being finalised, it is foreseen that the flight will depart from Liege (BEL) on 9 November and return from Bangkok (THA) on 10 December after the Championships. For information about flights, contact Mr. Suwicha Boontem of the Trans Air Cargo.

The participating nations and athletes will also find it welcoming that the total prize money will be US$175,000 with 7 sets of FEI Continental Championship medals on offer.
