Australian Grand Prix rider Briana Burgess will be relocating to Wellington, Florida, after a twelve year stay in Holland and Germany.

Burgess received a job offer to start riding for Israeli trainer and horse dealer Oded Shimoni in Wellington and the 31-year old has decided to make the move.

"I'll be moving there as head rider, so we will start to develop (the sales and training business) together and see how it goes," Burgess said in an interview at the CDI Sydney.

Competitionwise this means that Burgess will probably make her return to the arena during the 2020 Dressage in Florida show season.  "Leading up to the Florida show season we'll be concentrating on the move and getting the horses in a good shape for the CDI's," she added.

Most recently Burgess has been campaigning her own and Michael Klimke's mare Sissi at international Grand Prix level under the supervision of French Alexandre Ayache. The horse will stay with Klimke while Burgess moves to the U.S.A.

Briana began her own independent training and sales business in Munster, Germany in 2014 after training with Johan and Penny Rockx from 2007 till 2009 and with Monica Theodorescu from 2009 till 2012. In the autumn of 2018 she relocated her business to Rulle, Germany, but now she'll be packing up shop again to jump the puddle.

To Eurodressage, Burgess explained that she is really excited to begin a new chapter.

"I’ve known Oded for a few years and the opportunity arose in March for me to go to Wellington and work together with him and his horses for a week," she told Eurodressage. "I loved Wellington and the way Oded works with his horses and clients. He has fantastic horses in his barn and I found his vision and passion for his work to be something I would like to be a part of. Oded has offered me a position to join his team and we look forward to begin a cooperation together."
