Maracana and Franco Nero, High Scorers of the 2019 Verden Stallion Sport Test

The 4-year old Maracana and the 5-year old Franco Nero became the high scoring dressage stallions in the sport test held in Verden, Germany, on 7 - 9 March 2019. 

In the 4-year old division nine stallions appeared at the starters' line and 8 passed after one was withdrawn. 

Gestut Bonhomme's Maracana (by Millennium x Lord Loxley) topped the board with an 8.62 total score. He was presented by Lena Waldmann and scored 8.8 for walk, 8.5 for trot, 8.2 for canter, and 8.8 for rideability and general impression. Rebecca Gutmann purchased Maracana for 700,000 euro at the 2017 Westfalian Stallion Licensing. In 2018 he scored 8.34 in the 14-day suitability test. The 4-year old runner-up was Axel Windeler's Hanoverian bred Royal Palace (by Royal Classic II x Royal Blend) who scored a total of 8.40 points.  He got 8.8 for trot, 8.2 for canter and walk, 8.3 for rideability and 8.7 for general impression.

In the 5-year old division six stallions participated and all passed the test, although Don Djamilo (by Don Nobless) and the Westfalian licensed Velvet (by Van Vivaldi) scraped by with 7.57 and 7.59 points.

The best scorer was Franco Nero (by Franziskus x Sorento), presented by Esther Maruhn. He scored a total of 8.24 points and got 7.8 for walk, 8.5 for trot, 8.2 for canter, 8.3 for rideability and 8.5 for general impression.  The runner-up was Gestut Bonhomme's Dimagico (by Dimaggio x Jazz Time) with an 8.06 score. He got 7.8 for trot, 7.5 for canter, 9 for walk and 8 for rideability and general impression.
