Americans Justine Wilson and her partner Mike Rubin of Breezy Hill South in Aiken, S.C., have acquired the 9-year old Dutch warmblood mare Erludine DVB from Coby and Marlies van Baalen.

Erludine is bred H. Van Erp and is by Jazz out of a Ferro x Rubinstein dam.  Owned by the duo Heerkans and Van Wanrooij, Erludine finished fourth at the 2012 KWPN Mare Championship in Ermelo.

She was scouted by Coby van Baalen and first competed as a 4-year old by Lisanne der Nederlanden. Under Stefanie Wolf the mare finished sixth in the 2014 Pavo Cup Finals. Afterwards Marlies van Baalen took over the ride and trained her up to Intermediare I. They made their small tour show debut in 2018.  Erludine has also produced two foals so far, the 2014 born filly Jackie Kennedy (by Damsey) and the 2018 born filly Nana Mouskouri (by Totilas).

Wilson and Rubin have acquired Erludine DVB as an addition to their growing string of horses with which they hope to break through on the international dressage scene.

"We have a pretty impressive line up of rising stars we hope to represent worldwide on behalf of the U.S.," Wilson told Eurodressage. "Erludine was fourth at the KWPN Mare Championship and a Subli Cup qualification winner in 2014, carefully developed by Marlies van Baalen.”

For Wilson admits it was love at first sight when she met Erludine. Her coach Elly Schobel affirmed that the mare was the perfect match.

"It sounds so cliché but from the first time I rode her it really was a perfect match," Justine gushed. "Of the hundreds of horses I have ridden I’ve never had that with another horse. We are hoping this will be a very special partnership for many years to come and I am thankful to Lauw van Vliet for making the match!"

"Justine intentionally looked for a top mare with all of the attributes," Justine's trainer Elly Schobel added. "She also stands two good stallions and is actively breeding. She is a as committed and dedicated as they come."

Wilson and Rubin stand the KWPN licensed stallions Special D (by Metall x Zandigo) and Hero BHS (by Cover Story x Prestige VDL). With the latter, Wilson became the reserve champions at the 2016 U.S. Young Horse Championships in the 4-year old division.

"Lauw also raises my young stallions until they are ready to come stateside or compete under saddle in Holland. He found Hero BHS for me, as well as several other top young horses and stallions from incredible breeders around Europe," Wilson explained.

Justine recently acquired the 9-year old Hanoverian mare Sierranova (by Sir Donnerhall x Alabaster) through Oded Shimoni as her Grand Prix hopeful.

"She shows tremendous potential for international sport. She is from the renowned Augustehof breeding farm in Germany and was a top young horse under Anne Sophie Fiebelkorn, but now with the help of Elly she is ours to move to the Grand Prix," Justine explained.

Mare Power Sierranova and Erludine
Wilson and Rubin are slowly building their collection of high quality dressage horses by scouting and purchasing top youngsters in Europe as well as by breeding their own stock. This plan is carefully masterminded as a solid foundation for future success in sport.

"We hope to be a strong presence in the international arena and the USEF Young Horse and Developing Programs as well as producing our own future champions with our incredible lineup of stallions and mares to be competitive on the world stage," Wilson stated. "We have quite a few promising prospects already from these combinations and hope to have many more to come!"
