The 5-year olds De Massimo and the 6-year old Quietschbunt became the winners of the Bundeschampionate qualification classes held at the 2018 South German Dressage Championships in Nordlingen, Germany, on 19 - 22 July 2018.
No less than 27 combinations appeared at the starting line of the 5-year old division. Sabina Schrödter topped the board with her own Westfalian stallion De Massimo (by Dankeschön x Show Star). The grey stallion scored 8 for walk, 8.5 for trot and canter, 8 for submission and 8.5 for general impression to total 8.3 for the victory. Carolin Brandt and the German Sport Horse stallion De Sandro (by Decurio x Samba Hit) were the runners-up with 8.1. The combination received 8 for walk and trot, 8.5 for canter, 7.5 for submission and 8.5 for general impression.
Ten pairs contested the M-level dressage horse test in the 6-year old division. Ralf Kornprobst and Falk Pewestorf's Bavarian gelding Quietschbunt (by Quaterback x Lord Loxley) bested the field with 8.1. The chestnut gelding got 7.5 for walk, 8.5 for trot, 8 for canter and submission and 8.5 for general impression. Two combinations tied in second place with 8.0.: Katrin Burger on the Westfalian bred Vernissage (by Vitalis) and Katja Galmbacher on the Bavarian stallion Boss Hoss (by Belissimo M x Romanov). Vernissage got straight 8s for walk, trot, canter, submission and general impression, while Boss Hoss received 8.5 for walk and trot, 7.5 for canter and submission and 8 for general impression.
