The Swedish Equestrian Federation has announced the team that will represent Sweden at the 2018 European Pony Championships in Bishop Burton, U.K. on 8 - 12 August 2018.

Sweden had initially appointed a different team, but the first reserve was called up after Marie Haid-Bondergaard's pony Bomgaards Dicaprio failed the measurement test at the CDIO-PJYR Hagen "Future Champions" in June. The pony was re-measured two weeks ago in Malmo, Sweden, and failed again.

The team that was sent to the CDIO-P Hagen was being tested by team trainer Pytt Hamberg as the final team for Bishop Burton but reserve rider Wynja Eriksdotter Rubin is now stepping in after good results at the 2018 Swedish Pony Championships.

Representing Sweden at the 2018 Euros are:

  • Meja Karlsson - Wise Guy, a 10-year old Dutch Welsh pony by Bodo x Orchard d'Avranches
  • Ellen Olsson - Daylight; a 16-year old DRP gelding by Dijon S x Till The Champ
  • My Sandgren - Twenty Two,  a 13-year old DRP stallion by durello Top x Mister Man
  • Wynja Eriksdotter Rubin - Wacos Rache, a 13-year old Swedish Riding Pony by Waco x Valentino

Reserve riders in random order are Emilia Berglund Bergåkra, Moa Sundelöf, and Zelma Björk.
