Danish Grand Prix rider Birgitte Byrialsen has been officially appointed as the Chinese team trainer. She will coach the Chinese team to the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia, on 20 - 23 August 2018.

Byrialsen has been training Chinese riders since 2004 as head coach of the Guandon equestrian centre.

The 2018 Chinese Dressage Championships took place on 25 - 27 May 2018 in the Shandong province and Byrialsen's riders from Guandon won team and individual gold.

"This competition was important to us, because it was the last qualifying show for the 2018 Asian Games. Now we know that our riders, Gu Bing and Huang Zouqing, are two of the total four riders on the national team," said Birgitte Byrialsen.

Zouquin won individual gold and Bing individual silver at the 2018 Chinese Championships.
