The 5-year old VanThom was the winner of the Bundeschampionate qualification class held at Middle German Regional Championship in Prussendorf, Germany, on Friday 7 July 2017. The big Prussendorf dressage and show jumping championships only offered a BuCha qualifier for 5-year olds during this show.
Leslie Rohrbacher and Marvin Mehrmann's Oldenburg stallion VanThom (by Vitalis x Abanos) took home the trophy after scoring an 8.1 total, that made the pair win the class. The dark bay stallion got 7.5 for walk, 8 for trot, 8.5 for canter, 8 for submission and 8.5 for general impression.
Tina Kage and her own German Sport Horse registered gelding Quick Step (by Quaterback x Paradiesvogel) tied in second place with Stefanie Piep and Siegfried Kaul's Hanoverian stallion Quat Royal (by Quaterback x Dressage Royal). Both horses scored 8.0. Quick Step earned 8s for walk, trot nd canter, 7.5 for submission and 8.5 for general impression, while Quat-Royal got 8 for walk, 7.5 for trot, 8.5 for canter and 8 for submission and general impression.
