The Norwegian equestrian federation and Norwegian warmblood society have held their one and only young horse selection trial at Stall K in Kongsberg, Norway, on 10 - 11 June 2017, to determine the horses which will represent Norway at the 2017 World Championships for young dressage horses in Ermelo, The Netherlands, on 3 - 6 August 2017. Only three horses achieved the set criterium for qualification.
The two federations have not yet announced the names of the horses that will be nominated for Ermelo, but they are currently under deliberation as only three horses achieved the standard. Norway is eligible to send two horses per age category. The qualification score to be considered for team selection was 80% for the 5 and 6-year olds and 75% for the 7-year olds.
In the 5-year old division not a single horse was able to score 80%, neither in the preliminary test, nor in the finals test. The winner of the 5-year old division was Maren Knappe on the Norwegian bred mare Skoglys Rihanna (by Royal Olymp x Dynamit). She scored 79.600% and 77.600%.
In the 6-year old division the Danish based Trude Kasparek Hestengen scored over 80% twice and won the preliminary and finals test with the Danish warmblood Strandagersgards Deluxe (by De Noir x Sam Sam). They received 83.00% and 83.200% from the panel of judges, which consisted of Liv Mette Moxnes, Mette Ono Njøten, and Jesper Bæk. In the 6-year old Finals test, Silje Bakken and the Danish warmblood stallion Bogegaardens Alphabeat (by Ampere x Don Schufro) scored 82.000% after earning 78,600 % in the preliminary round.
Only two horses contested the 7-year old division and Silje Bakken rode both of them. Only in the preliminary test did Silke's Danish warmblood Bogegardens Santiago (by Soliman x Wesley) scored above the miminum standard of 75%. He got 77.078%. In the finals test both her horses remained stuck right under 75%.
