The 5-year old Borsalino and the 6-year old Finest Pearl became the winners of the Bundeschampionate qualification classes held in Wolfskehlen on Saturday and Sunday 27 - 28 May 2017. Seven 5-year olds and eight 6-year olds contested the qualifier after an earlier warm up round in Wolfskehlen.
The 5-year old L-level dressage horse test was won by Michele Schulmerig on Frank Rühl's Oldenburg gelding Borsalino (by Bordeaux x Weltmeyer). The chestnut gelding scored a winning 8.1 with 7 for walk, 8.5 for trot and canter, 8 for submission and 8.5 for general impression. Two horses tied in second place with 7.8 points. Claudia Feldmann and Melissa Grasser's Hanoverian gelding Queolito (by Quaterhall x Furst Romancier) got 8 for walk and trot, 7.5 for canter and submission and 8 for general impression. Kim Pfeiffer and Marc Lingelbach's Hanoverian stallion Furst Douglas (by Furstenball x Hohenstein) earned 8.5 for walk, 8 for trot, and 7.5 for canter, submission and general impression.
In the 6-year old division, professional Grand Prix rider Thomas Wagner steered Jessica Wagner's Rhinelander mare Finest Pearl (by Feedback x Sandro Hit) to victory with an 8.2 score. Acquired at the 2015 Westfalian Spring Elite auction for 30,000 euro, the dark bay mare got 7.5 for walk, 9.5 for trot, 8 for canter, 7.5 for submission and 8.5 for general impression. Dominik Russo and Sabine Baron Mannsbarth's Hanoverian gelding Domino (by Diamond Hit x Lauries Crusador xx) finished second on 8.1. The liver chestnut gelding earned 8.5 for walk, 8 for trot and canter, 7.5 for submission and 8.5 for general impression.
