Dutch Diederik van Silfhout and Spanish Borja Carrascosa Martinez made their way to the top in the small tour classes held at the 2017 CDIO Compiègne in France on 18 - 21 May 2017. While Van Silfhout won the Prix St Georges, he swapped places with Carrascosa in the Inter I. The Spaniard went on to dominate the kur to music.

After the sale of his Dutch Olympic team horse Arlando, the 29-year old Van Silfhout did not end in a cul-de-sac but it going onwards and upwards with a large string of horses from young horse through small tour and up to Grand Prix. Aboard the 10-year old Oldenburg bred Scenario (by Sorento out of Gentina (by Top of Class x Manstein)), Van Silfhout scored 73.237% to win the Prix St Georges. They were second in the Inter I with 69.921% after going off course, and third in the Kur with 73.725%. Scenario is owned by the Van Silfhout family in partnership with German Silve Dietrich-Osten and the bay was previously competed in Germany by Mirja Block.

The Dusseldorf based Spanish rider Borja Carrascosa brought along the 8-year old Dutch warmblood stallion Escort (by Gribaldi x Gabor x Balzflug), which he owns together with his life partner Alexander Brenninkmeijer. Borja and his black stallion were second in the Prix St Georges with 71.026% and won the Intermediaire I with 73.079% as well as the Kur to Music with 75.000%.

Carrascosa and Brenninkmeijer discovered Escort as a 5-year old and bought him from the Mullerova stud (ERC) in Czech Republic. They had purchased him as a 3-year old colt at the 2006 KWPN Stallion Licensing in 's Hertogenbosch.

"The plan is to do some more small tour shows with him and hopefully Aachen in July," said co-owner Brenninkmeijer. "After that we will see if he's ready to start in the Grand Prix as he does everything, but we want him to get some show routine first."
