Thirteen stallions were entered for assessment with the Hanoverian stallion licensing committee in order to obtain approval for the breed society on 11 May 2017. Four dressage bred colts received a positive verdict.

Four stallions withdrew from the approval before it started, amongst them Gestut Sprehe's popular young stallion Bernay (by Boston x Lord Loxley), Klosterhof Medingen's Donovan (by De Niro x Pik Noir), and Eugene Reesink's nameless Jazz x Weltmeyer.

The dressage bred colts that were approved are Herbert Kruse's Sundance (by San Amour x De Niro) who had recently failed the Schlieckau stallion performance testig, and Adrian Gasser's Oldenburg licensing champion Furst Fabrice (by Furstenball x Sandro Hit).

Also approved were Marianne Jerich's 4-year old Damondo (by Damon Hill x Gribaldi) and Siegfried Kaul's chestnut Quat Royal (by Quaterback x Dressage Royal).
