2017 Danish Spring Elite Auction

Buyers paid knock down prices at the 2017 Danish warmblood spring elite auction which was held during the annual stallion licensing in Herning, Denmark, on 11 March 2017.

With a sales rate of 69% as listed in a press release (73% on the statistics page) and an average price of 23,000 euro, the auction result was not what was hoped for. Eighteen horses in total were sold (19 were listed as sold on the statistics page).

"We are very pleased that our members gave us a good sales process, but we were unfortunately not the prices that our exhibitors deserve," said Ulrik Kristensen, president of the auction committe. "In turn this meant that the buyers got really good horses for reasonable prices."

The top priced horse of the auction was the 4-year old bay mare Duffy (by Dancing Hit x Milan), who is a full sister to licensed stallion Hesselhoj's Donkey Boy. Duffy is dam to already embryotransfer foals. Norwegian Kristin Andresen acquired Duffy for 48,420 euro. She also owns Donkey Boy.

The second most expensive dressage horse was Sobakkehus Sir Danois, a 3-year old bay stallion by Sir Donnerhall x Midt West Ibi Light x Limebrand. He sold for 45,000 euro.

The third best priced dressage horse was Overgaard's Zappa, a 6-year old mare by Zack x Londonderry x Solos Carex, which sold for 41,700 euro.
