Dutch Under 25 team rider Anne Meulendijks has sustained a head injury in a stable accident that happened on Tuesday 14 February 2017. The rider was briefly hospitalized and is now recovering at home.

Meulendijks got kicked in the head by a horse in the stall. She was transported to the hospital where she was diagnosed with a concussion and she got a few stitches at the back of her head. There are some abrasions to her hand and knee.

"She was very lucky," Anne's mom Monique Meulendijks told Eurodressage. "She's home now and doing fine. She still has much head ache when she watches tv or works on the laptop. Today the stitches can go out and she hopes to be riding again soon."

Meulendijks qualified for the 2017 Dutch Indoor Dressage Championships in Ermelo, The Netherlands, next week, and should be defending her title there.

"We're not sure if that would be wise though," Monique added. "Avanti is going great and that's why it would be a pity if she can't participate, but sometimes you just have to be a little bit smart and we think there will be plenty more shows for her."

Anne Meulendijks is the 2014 European Young riders Champion. In 2016 she was member of the silver medal winning team at the 2016 European Under 25 Championships.
