Junior rider Daphne van Peperstraten and young rider Febe van Zwambagt became the winners of the second leg of the 2016-2017 KNHS junior-young riders cup held at equestrian centre De Peelbergen in Kronenberg, The Netherlands, on Sunday 22 January 2017. Only one rider in both age divisions was able to crack the 70% magical marker.

The 2016-2017 KNHS Junior-Young Riders Cup is a show circuit for Dutch junior and young riders of which the individual qualifiers serves as squad and CDI team selection trials.

In the junior division Daphne van Peperstraten was a league of her own aboard the bright bay 10-year old Cupido (by Johnson). She scored five percent more than the second placed pair. With 73.96% she won the class. Sem Stiemer and Waldemar (by Negro) were the runners-up with 68.33% while Thalia Rockx rode the home bred 10-year old Cenda de la Fazenda (by Don Schufro) to third place with 67.75%.

"This was our first show since Roosendaal in December. I missed the first qualifier because I was on holiday," said Van Peperstraten who trains with Coby and Marlies van Baalen. "Cupido and I really click. He's a nice horse to work with and to have in the barn. Arthur van Rooij initially helped me to ride Cupido when I just bought him from him. We still are in touch and I let him know how the competitions went."

In the young riders division routirnier Febe van Zwambagt topped the board just short of cracking the 70% barrier. On her German bred Las Vegas (by Lord Loxley) she posted a winning score of 69.08% on the board. The winner of the first qualifier, Jasmien de Koeyer and Esperanza (by Desperados), were second with 68.51% whereas Lisanne Zoutendijk and her experienced German bred Ringo Star (by Riccione) landed third place with 67.11%.

"I'm no longer content with a second place. It's just fun to win," said a self-assured Van Zwambagt who recently started working as a professional rider at the yard RS2 Dressage. "This was my second competition at Young Riders level. It goes easier each time. We didn't have any big mistakes so I'm super happy."
