The favourites for the 2016 Nurnberger Burgpokal Finals and Louisdor Cup Finals have fulfiled all expectations and won the warm up rounds at the 2016 CDI Frankfurt on Thursday and Friday morning 15 - 16 December 2016. Before bagging the warm up round of the Louisdor Cup Finals with Heuberger, Anabel Balkenhol also won the CDI Grand Prix class on early Friday morning.
The 2016 CDI Frankfurt kicked off with the warm up for the 2016 Nurnberger Burgpokal Finals on Thursday morning. This Nurnberger show circuit brings together the best Developing Prix St Georges horses in Germany and the clear favourite for the title is the Dutch warmblood stallion Vitalis (by Vivaldi x D-Day). Under Norwegian Isabel Freese-Bache, the sympathetic liver chestnut scored 76.366% for the victory in the Prix St Georges Special, but had Jill Marielle Becks on Damon's Satellite (by Damon Hill x Rubin Royal) and Ingrid Klimke on her two horses Franziskus (by Fidermark x Alabaster) and Geraldine (by Furst Grandios x Tolstoi) close behind him.
In the warm up round for the Louisdor Cup Finals, the German Developing Grand Prix Horse Championship, Anabel Balkenhol lived up to the expectations and scored the victory on the 9-year old Trakehner stallion Heuberger (by Imperio x Michelangelo) with 76.558%. Dorothee Schneider and Matthias Herbert's 10-year old Bavarian bred Sammy Davis Jr (by San Remo x Wenckenstern) were second with 75.419%.
In the international Grand Prix class, Balkenhol proved strong form once again aboard her number one GP horse, the 16-year old Hanoverian Dablino (by De Niro x Wanderbusch II). After winning the CDI Munich Indoors and placing second at the CDI Stuttgart, Balkenhol was now back in front in Frankfurt with 75.520%. Fabienne Lutkemeier and the 9-year old German Sport Horse gelding Fabregaz by Florestano x Ragazzo) were the runners-up with 74.240%.
The Nurnberger Burgpokal Finals will take place on Saturday, the Louisdor Cup Finals are on Sunday.
