Diana van de Bovenkamp, who sustained severe injuries to her face after getting kicked by a horse, is in stable condition but still kept intubated.

The 18-year old Dutch team silver medal winning junior rider got kicked in the face by a horse during a lunging session on Tuesday 8 November. She was transported to the Utrecht University Clinic where she was operated on straight away.

Van de Bovenkamp sustained multiple fractures to face, including her nose and lower jaw as well as a shattered upper jaw. There was also massive swelling to her throat for which they intubated her.

Diana's mom posted an update to her daughter's condition: "by now she's doing a bit better, she can be talked to and we hope that she can go off intubation tomorrow. She is still in the intensive care unit of the UMC in Utrecht," wrote Ria van de Bovenkamp.
