2016 Swedish Young Horse Championships

The 4-year old Dragon Welt, the 5-year old Fireball Macohl, the 6-year old RayMore and the 7-year old Quatermain became the winners of the Young Horse classes held at the brand new Elmia Scandinavian Horse Show in Jönköping, Sweden, on 26 - 28 October 2016.  The Elmia show is a new, private initiative to bring the best young horses of the country together.

Two weeks after the 2016 Swedish Warmblood Young Horse Championships in Flyinge, which were open to Swedish warmblood bred and registered horses as well as SWB licensed stallions, the Elmia young horses classes took place. The event in Jonkoping could not count on as big a field of competitors as in Flyinge, even though several riders opted to contest both shows.

Ina-Linn Lundholm and the Hanoverian bred Dragon Welt (by Dancier x Weltmeyer) won the warm up round and finals in the 4-year old division. With a final score of 96.60% he secured a second overall victory after earning the Swedish Warmblood Champion's title two weeks ago. The stallion scored  a 10 for canter and overall impression. He is Hanoverian registered but bred in Sweden by Pernilla Svensson and owned by Jan Brink. Second place went to Anna Svanberg aboard Ellen Fridsen's Hanoverian mare Feine Dame (by Furstenball x Conteur) with an 84.60 score. Swedish team rider Emilie Nyrerod ranked third with the Danish warmblood stallion Elmholms Bonito (by Bögegårdens Boney M x Don Schufro) with 83.80.

In the 5-year old division, former European young rider championship bronze medal winning Marina Mattson scored the victory aboard the Danish warmblood Fireball Macohl (by Furstenball x Rosentanz), bred by Lise Rasmussen and owned by Håkan Buskhe. The pair won the preliminary round with 86.600 as well as the finals with 87.80 points.  Emilie Nyrerod and the Oldenburg gelding Final Countdown (by Furstenball x Brentano II) landed second place with 83.00 points, while Malin Rinné and the Swedish gelding Zinzano (by Connaisseur x Amiral) were third with 80.80.

In the 6-year old division Jan Brink and the Swedish warmblood stallion RayMore (by JJ RayBan x Figaro R) wielded the axe of power and won the preliminary and the finals with 83.000 points. The chestnut licensed is bred by Kerstin and Thom Nilsson and owned by Francine Govostes of Green Lane Farm South, USA. Lisa Johansson and the Swedish warmblood bred Cobra CS (by Skovens Rafael x His Highness) became the runner-up with 78.600 points. Anna Svefors was third aboard the American bred Oldenburg Flawless (by Fürstenball x Rhodes Scholar) with 75.000 points.

Marina Hannell and the Hanoverian gelding Quatermain (by Quaterback x Wilawander xx) reigned supreme in the 7-year old division, acing the preliminary round as well as the Prix St Georges finals on a score of 76.404%. Ida-Linn Lundholm placed second aboard the Dutch warmblood stallion Eclectisch (by Zenon x Olivi) on 70.921%, while Swedish Olympian was third after scoring 69.868% with the Swedish warmblood stallion Frans Andreo (by Sandreo x Weltmeyer).
