Dorothee Schneider's former Grand Prix horse Forward Looking has been retired from competition sport and will become a brood mare. The mare has not been shown for the past two years.

Forward Looking is a 15-year old Westfalian mare by Fidermark out of Deesy (by Dinard L). She was started as a youngster by Magdalena Post as a 3-year old and Schneider obtained the ride when the bay mare was five. Schneider's long-time sponsor Gabriele Kippert acquired the horse from Anna Maria Berger and Schneider trained her up to Grand Prix level.

The pair made its international Grand Prix debut at the CDI Bremen in February 2012 and competed at top CDI's such as Aachen, Fritzens, Falsterbo, Stuttgart, Munich, Frankfurt, Hagen, Perl and Dortmund. Their career highlights include two first places at the 2012 CDI Fritzens and a win in the 4* Kur to Music at the 2014 CDIO Aachen.

Forward Looking competed at her last show at the 4* CDI in Frankfurt in December 2014. She is now still lightly schooled by owner Kippert and trainer Schneider and is pregnant with her first foal by Villeneuve (by Vitalis x Dancier).

"Together with her owner Gabriele Kippert, we are very happy that Fietje, as we call her in the barn, is now expecting a foal. She will be a great mother as she has a very special character. It was a hard decision to make, because it was so much fun to ride her, but we believe that now is the right time to thank her in that way."

Forward Looking is due May 2017 and will stay at Dorothee's Gestut St. Stephan in Framersheim, Germany.
