Sixty-two horse and rider combinations have qualified to compete at the 2016 Danish Young Horse Championships to be held during the 2016 CDI-W Odense in Denmark on 13 - 23 October 2016. After a series of selection trials and a semi-finals held last weekend in Billund and Helsinge, the group of finalists is known.
Denmark annually holds two young horse Championships, one restricted to Danish Warmblood bred horses held during the annual stallion licensing in Herning and the larger one open to all breeds and held at the World Cup qualifier in Odense.
Twenty-six 4-year olds, eighteen 5-year olds and eighteen 6-year olds have qualified for Odense.
Amongst the 4-year olds Furstenball has sired the largest group of offspring qualified with four get selected. However, the Norwegian owned Danish stallion performane test winner Hesselhoj Donkey Boy (by Dancing Hit x Milan) is the highest scoring horse so far in the preliminary rounds with a 9.0 score. In the 5-year old division Anna Kasprzak and the horse she bought only a week ago, 2016 World Young Horse Champion Victoria's Secret (by Vitalis x Fidermark) became the highest scoring horse of the qualifiers with an 9.86 total. Ampere has the most 5-year old offspring qualified with 3 get represented. In the 6-year old group Danish Grand Prix rider Daniel Bachmann stood out on the licensing champion Zee Me Blue (by Zack x Don Schufro) with a 9.02 qualification score. Furstenball again sired the largest group of offspring with three qualified.
