2016 Dutch Outdoor Pony Championships

Daphne van Peperstraten won the 2016 Dutch Outdoor Pony Championships in Ermelo, The Netherlands, on Saturday 27 August 2016 and concluded her FEI pony career with her second consecutive Dutch Pony Champion's title on two different ponies. Marten Luiten scored silver and Zoe Kuintjes grabbed the bronze.

The Dutch Championships at FEI pony level is determined by the Kur to Music. In the morning the qualified riders are split up into two groups and have to contest a first round to qualify for the Kur finals. The five highest ranked riders per group are eligible to ride the freestyle in the afternoon.

Van Peperstraten and the German bred Wonderful Girl (by Wimbledon) scored a winning 75.56% in group 1 and then went on to be the high scorer in the Kur with a personal best score of 80.708% which gave her the gold. Marten Luiten, who did not gain a spot on the Dutch team but was appointed reserve, finished in silver medal position aboard the Dutch Welsh pony Movie Star (by Hagelkruis Valentijn) with a 77.083% earning freestyle. They initially placed second in round 1 with 74.44%. Team rider Zoe Kuintjes and the German bred Elin's Noncisdador (by Nostradamus) got brone with a 76.417% scoring freestyle. The pair was the winner of group 2 in the first round with 75.81%

"Twice Dutch champion, team bronze at the European Championships, winning many international shows and today breaking the magical 80%-barrier. It's a dream come true," said Van Peperstraten. Daphne will make the transition to junior rider's level aboard her 7-year old and they are looking to buy a schoolmaster. Van Peperstraten is aiming for a professional career in horses but wants to combine a business degree with top sport.
