Holsteiner Stallion Loran Passed Away

The Holsteiner licensed breeding stallion Loran has passed away at age 26.Loran stood the majority of his career up for stud in Denmark but spent his last years at Joos' station in Pfullendorf, Germany, where he passed away.

Loran was born in 1990 and sired by Lord out of Sorinna (by Calypso I x Tumbled xx x Marder). He was bred by Gerd Carstensen.

The bay sire was licensed at the 1992 Holsteiner Stallion Licensing in Neumunster and became the winner of the 1993 100-day Stallion performance testing in Adelheidsdorf with 137.89 points. For two years he stood up for stud in Holstein before moving to Denmark. He was shown at international dressage level by Karin Nissen

He returned to Holstein in 2003 and Wolfgang Schade continued the stallion's show career with wins up to national Grand Prix level. The pair did its last show in June 2006 at the CDN Niebull, where they competed in an S-level test.

Loran was a very versatile stallion, siring dressage and show jumping offspring. He has sired three licensed offspring in Germany, Lenett, Lorano, and Lightning. Squaredancer has been licensed in Denmark.

Show jumper Leonardo B is his most successful offspring. He won Grand Prix and major Nations Cup competitions all over the world and earning a total of 582.500 euro under Thomas Voss.

Loran's most famous dressage offspring include small tour horse Langagers Lorambo ((Josefine Friberg) and Lazzaro (Maria Ayala), and with him as a dam sire, Loran can be found in the pedigree of former Danish team horse Akeem Foldager (Andreas Helgstrand), U.S. Grand Prix horse Paragon (Heather Blitz), and riding U.S. Grand Prix horse Rassing's Lonoir (Olivia Lagoy-Weltz).
