The 5-year old Furst Flamenco and the 6-year old Flavis became the winners of the Bundeschampionate qualification classes held at the regional dressage competition at Riding Club Hofgarten in Ratingen near Dusseldorf, Germany, on 28 - 29 May 2016. Thirteen 5-year olds and eight 6-year olds showed up to earn a ticket to Warendorf.
The 5-year old dressage horse class was judged by Harry Lorenz, Reinhard Richenhagen, and Ulrich Eickershoff. They placed Helen Langehanenberg on Kirsten Herfeld's Oldenburg stallion Furst Flamenco first with a total of 8.1. The Furstenball x Weltmeyer offspring scored straight 8s for walk, trot, canter and submission and got 8.5 for general impression. Ingrid Klimke and the Westfalian mare Soma Bay (by Vitalis x Real Diamond) tied in second place with Stefanie Friess on the Hanoverian mare Brenda AW (by Belstaff x Lauries Crusador xx). Both horses scored 8.0. Soma Bay got 8 for walk, 8.5 for trot, 7.5 for canter and 8 for submission and general impression. Brenda AW scored straight 8s for walk, trot, canter, submission and general impression.
In the 6-year old division judges Richenhagen, Lorenz, and Hermann Bender put Anja Wilimzig on the Warendorf state stud's Westfalian stallion Flavis (by Flanagan) first. The horse scored 8.1. and edged out Christina Konings aboard her own Rhinelander mare Lassira B (by Lissaro x Lancer II), who finished second with 8.0.
