Lyndal Oatley and her Grand Prix horse Sandro Boy will not be contesting the first of only two Australian Olympic selection trials, the 2016 CDIO Odense in Denmark on 13 - 15 May 2016.

Oatley's 15-year old Oldenburg gelding Sandro Boy (by Sandro Hit x Argentinus) is not fit enough to compete.

"This morning the decision has been made to not contest the first qualifier in Odense with Sandro boy," Oatley stated. "Nissa's welfare will always come first and I wish the rest of the team the best of luck at our first qualifier."

Eight Australian Grand Prix riders qualified to go head to head at the two European nomination events during May and June in a bid to secure one of four positions on Australia's team for the 2016 Olympic Games.

The short list for the European Rio selection events has been made by calculating the average of each combination’s best two results from the Grand Prix at CDI-Ws, CDI 3*, 4* and 5* events during the period 22 September 2015 to 10 April 2016.

Lyndal Oatley and Sandro Boy were heading the short list with the highest score average.
