Junior rider Lisanne Zoutendijk and young rider Thalia Rockx won the sixth and final leg of 2015-2016 KNHS Junior-Young Riders Cup in Kootwijk, The Netherlands, on Saturday 7 May 2016. The finals will take place at equestrian centre De Peelbergen in Sevenum on 18 June 2016.
In the junior riders division Lisanne Zoutendijk reigned aboard her 2015 Dutch team horse Ring Star (by Riccione). The pair also won the fifth leg in Almelo, after Febe van Zwambagt swept the first four qualifiers. In Kootwijk, Zoutendijk scored 73.06% for victory. Esmee Donkers and her Dutch bred 9-year old Chaina (by Sir Donnehrall) finished second with 70,86%, while Iris Houweling and About Time (by Tuschinski) slotted in third with 67.97%.
Judge Willemien Blanken commented that, "“Esmee's Chaina is very beautiful and the combination rode a clean test, but in walk Lisanne's horse is a bit better and that part counts double. Lisanne also probably has more experience. She rides very professionally and rides the movements to a T. It's nice to watch."
In the absence of all A-squad Dutch young riders, Thalia Rockx steered to her Grand Prix schoolmaster Verdi de la Fazenda (by Florett As) to victory with a score of 68.60%. Carlijn Huberts and Romeo (by Jazz) were the runners-up with 67.85%, while Fabienne Heikens and the recently gelded Angusch (by Special D) were third with 67.85%.
"Thalia rides very well and her horse does beautiful pirouettes," said judge Blanken. "Carlijn has a beautiful horse with three good basic gaits. She put down a solid test. Fabienne also rides very well."
