The 2016 KWPN reserve licensing champion Ierland has been operated on an inguinal hernia and is currently still in critical condition at the Hojgaard equine clinic in Denmark.

Ierland is bred by Broere Stud and is by Dream Boy x Jazz.

Andreas Helgstrand acquired Ierland at the KWPN licensing in February, where the colt made an impression with his movements. Ierland moved to Denmark and was also approved at the 2016 Danish warmblood stallion licensing and passed the 10-day observation test right afterwards.

The black stallion was breeding at Helgstrand's equestrian centre but on Thursday afternoon 28 April 2016 he suddenly showed severe signs of colic and was immediately transported to the Hojgaard equine clinic where he was operated on.

"He has survived the operation, but he is still in critical condition," Andreas Helgstrand explained. "We are very sorry for this situation and hope that he will make the next few critical days."

Ierland will not be available with fresh semen this breeding season.
