German 5*-dressage judge Gotthilf Riexinger and the Stuttgart German Masters show direction have parted ways after a collaboration of more than thirty years.

Riexinger began working on the CSI/CDI Stuttgart organising committee in 1985 and under his direction turned the event into one of the most celebrated indoor equestrian shows in the world.

Gotthilf had already announced that he was ready to be succeeded and that the board could start looking for a replacement. Initially he had stated that he wanted to continue on the job until the 2017 CDI Stuttgart but it has been decided otherwise. The 2016 Stuttgart German Masters will be his last.

"My plan was to be responsible for the 2017 show as last one as I'll be turning 70 August next year," Riexinger told a Stuttgart newspaper. "It would have been the right time to hand over the direction into younger hands. I wanted to offer my expertise and experience in looking for a successor, but unfortunately they have been making arrangements behind my back, also with the sponsors."

The next few years the organisation of the Stuttgart show will be in charge of Carsten Rotermund, Andreas Krieg and Kai Huttrop-Hage.
