Following a raid at the Westfalian State stud in Warendorf, Germany, for an investigation into fraud, managing director Susanne Schmitt-Rimkus, as well as head stable manager Peter Borggreve and deputy director Bernhard Gerdemann have been temporarily released from their duty.

An anonymous tip led to the raid and investigation against the three suspects, who apparently received gifts related to several trips to Qatar. The trio went on several trips to Qatar. In 2013 and 2014 Peter Borggreve and the Westfalian state stud owned Laureus NRW competed at the invitational CDI Doha, which is sponsored by Qatar Airways.

During the raid on Wednesday 10 February 2016, the offices in Warendorf were searched and several computers have been confiscated.

While the case is under investigation, Hans Leser, the regional minister of agriculture, has taken over the management of the state stud Warendorf.
