The Danish town of Vilhelmsborg has been allocated as host of the 2016 European Pony Championship after the FEI struggled to find a host venue with no shows applying for the job.

The allocation of Vilhemsborg was decided on 11 November 2015 by the FEI Bureau at its in-person meeting held in San Juan (PUR) at this year's FEI General Assembly.

The FEI has set the date for the 2016 European Pony Championships to 17-21 August 2016.

Vilhelmsborg is the location of the headquarters of the Danish Warmblood Society and has been a venue for international dressage competitions in the past. Its last CDI there was in 2001. It also hosted the 2001 World Cup Finals, which were won by Ulla Salzgeber on Rusty.

The 2016 FEI Balkan Dressage Championship were allocated to Thessaloniki (GRE) but the dates are still to be confirmed.
