Lina Liu is the first Chinese dressage rider who has completed the German trainer exam "Trainer C" for the German Equestrian Federation (FN).

Liu successfully completed her trainer exams at the Westfalian Riding and Driving School in Münster in September. Since 2009 Münster has been the venue where the equestrian coach exams can be done in English language: Liu graduated together with colleagues from the USA, Norway and Australia.

The 36-year old Liu trains at Hof Kasselmann in Hagen, Germany, on a regular basis and is coached there by Heike Hamel.

Liu began competing internationally in 2007 on the Baden Wurttemberger mare Piroschka (by Piaster x Velasquez), previously shown by Marie Line Wettstein. She was the sole Chinese rider at the 2008 Olympic Games in Hong Kong.

In 2010 Lia returned to the international stage just once and showed at the Asian Games in Guangzhou aboard the Holsteiner Cortez (by Caretino x Lantaan). Four years later she made another single international appearance at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon with the Westfalian Don Dinero.

In the future Liu wants to get involved as a trainer in her home country and strives for a career as an equestrian judge.
