2015 Global Dressage Forum

As well as showing us his coaching methods Paul will also demonstrate at the 15th edition of the Global Dressage Forum 26-27 October the disappearing skill of training horses on long reins covering training exercises for both young and advanced horses. Paul has coached many of Britain's leading dressage combinations and his pupils have ridden at Olympic Games, World Games and European Championships.

In recent years he has focused on training Norwegian riders and his pupil Siril Helljesen and the mare Dorina competed at the London Olympics. Paul has a vast knowledge of training different types of horses and is a master of problem solving.

Fielder is one of those professional dressage trainers who quietly goes about his work of coaching national and international dressage riders with great efficiency including preparing pupils for Olympic Games, World Games and European international Championships

He is not the type to shout about his own successes, in fact he is the opposite type – modest, helpful, supportive – preferring to push others into the spotlight rather than himself. Yet he has a lifetime of horsemanship and knowledge behind him and is regarded highly by his fellow professional coaches

We thought it was well over-due that the audience at the Global Dressage Forum should benefit from Paul's depth of knowledge and witness first hand why he is in demand by riders from so many dressage nations.

Paul’s main interest in the early days was show jumping where he trained with the late Warren Wofford who had trained with Bert de Nemethy. Paul accompanied the British show jumping team at the Munich Olympics and it was here that he first saw dressage at a high level, and became very inspired by the sport. In 1986 Paul was awarded a Sir Winston Churchill Scholarship, which allowed him to study even more dressage-training.  This allowed him to meet and study many of Europe’s great masters.

Paul has coached many of Britain’s leading dressage combinations and his pupils have ridden at Olympic Games, World Games and European Championships. After the Barcelona Olympics he was awarded by his federation the Trainer’s Award for training at  international standard. In 2006 Paul also became a Fellow of the British Horse Society.
