German Cornelia Dyhr made the most out her trip to sunny Biarritz in France where she campaigned her two horses Fabius and Sancey Le Long in the Amateur classes at the 2015 CDI Biarritz on 9 - 11 October 2015. Though she was the sole entry in the field and had no competition, Dyhr put in the mileage in the small and medium tour. In the future she hopes more Amateurs will join in.

“Biarritz was a wonderful, amazing event for me and I truly hope that more amateurs will take up this great learning opportunity,” Cornelia told Eurodressage.

Dyhr rode the 11-year old Fabius (by Fürst Piccolo) in his second ever CDI. The horse was not at all nervous, although sometimes he was still a little interested in other things. The horse scored 64.763% in the Prix St Georges, 64.053 % in the Inter I and 64.750% in the Inter I Kur.

“Overall it was a very nice outing for our first season in small tour. I still notice that in the bigger atmosphere we have more mistakes that at home in training, and so in this competition we had both ups and downs in the test," said Dyhr.

Cornelia concluded that the CDI was for her, most importantly, a very interesting teaching and learning experience  to use in her daily training.

"With scores of over 64% in our start to small tour level, the results provide proof that my training is on the right track, especially as they come from FEI judges," said Dyhr. "I also had a very nice time getting to know other riders and all in all the event was very organised, with nice, friendly and helpful ground staff.”`

Aboard her second ride, the 13-year old Baden Wurttemberger bred Sancey Le Long (by Stan The Boy x Achim), she got 61.583% in the Intermediaire A and 62.976% in the Intermediaire B. Dyhr began competing Sancey Le Long internationally five years ago in 2010.

Based in Hülchrath in the Ratingen-Düsseldorf area in Germany, Cornelia trains with Belgian Dirk van Roy, whose students included Gabriella Grillo and Nicole Uphoff in the past.

“The teaching arena is the Grillo Area in Mülheim / Ruhr, not far from Ratingen. I also manage my own Company for Flat Bussiness (Daccord Liegenschaften Gmbh) and that's why I like to stay an amateur with my own horses with my goal to be better every year.”

In 2016 Cornelia aims to keep her horses healthy and continue to do gain more success in International competition.
