2015 German Youth Riders Championships

Pony and junior rider Semmieke Rothenberger, and young rider Bianca Nowag were the grand champions at the 2015 German Youth Riders Championships held in Zeiskam, Germany, on 11 - 13 September 2015. Although the gold medalists were the title favourist, the overall ranking did paint quite a different picture than expected as many team riders who did well at the European Pony, Junior and Young Riders Championships were now beaten by combinations that did not make it on the team.

In the pony division 16-year old Semmieke Rothenberger filfilled the expectations and claimed gold in her last year on ponies with her 16-year old routinier Deinhard B. She won all three rounds with 77,521%, 78,089% and 82,875%. Team rider Helen Erbe, who did not make it to the Kur to Music Finals in Malmo, now won silver at the Nationals aboard Dujardin B (by Deinhard B). She scored 73,162% and 73,374% and was second in the first two rounds. Her kur score of 77,550% ranked her third but overall she landed silver. Nadine Krause and Cyrill (by Champion de Luxe), who captured individual test and kur silver at the Europeans, was good for bronze at the German Championships. They scored 71,624%, 71,870% and 78,825%.

Semmieke Rothenberger on Geisha "This is a very special Championships for Deinhard and I," said Rothenberger. "Ten years ago Deinhard already competed here in Zeiskam under Anna von Negri. Shortly after the competition he came to our place and was ridden by my brother. Now both of us became German Champion here, it's a fun feeling."

In the junior riders' division Rothenberger also reigned on her 13-year old Danish bred Geisha (by Gribaldi x Weltmeister). She won the first round with 74.605% but was second in the individual test with a generous 74.605%. In the Kur the pair was back on top with 78.675% and totalled 228.730 for gold. Hannah Erbe and the 8-year old Carlos (by Carabas x Weltmeyer) got the silver with 226.985 points. They were second in round one (74.279%), and won the second round with a royal 74.781%. In the kur they got 77.925% to finish on the silver step of the podium. Paulina Holzknecht and the 12-year old Wells Fargo (by Welser x Fabriano) were the third place getters for bronze with 71,216%, 73,596% and 75,975%.

"Geisha is simply unique. I always notice that when we get into the ring, she gets very competitive and gives it her all," Rothenberger commented.

Bianca Nowag on Fair Play RB At young riders level the 2015 European YR Kur champion Bianca Nowag also reigned at national level aboard the 11-year old Fair Play (by Fidermark x Brentano II). She won all three rounds with whopping scores of 75,000%, 78,465% and 80,925% for gold. Not on the German team for the Europeans in Vidauban in July, but now Germany's number two was Anna-KLisa Theile on the 9-year old gelding Ducati K (by Damon Hill x Rosenkavalier). They were solid throughout the show and got silver with 71,623%, 73,246% and 76,175%. Team rider Claire Louise Averkorn and her 11-year old Condio B (by Contendro x Willem's As) landed the bronze with 71,228%, 72,456% and 75,925%.

"I had a really good feeling, but I never thought that she would go so well and win with such a clear advantage," said Nowag. "Fair Play got a break after the Europeans and was back on top form for the German Youth Riders Championships."
